Annual Meeting & Elections
Join us on Zoom on Saturday, February 3, 2024, for our first meeting of the year, which is our Annual Meeting & Elections. Club officers George Leach, Fred Brooking, Larry Pearson, and Dan Greene will go over SIMSCal’s past year of events, classes, operations, and finances, and talk about possible plans for the coming year—including promising news on a new location for our in-person meetings this year!
After the officers’ reports, it is time to elect club leaders for 2024!
Reminder:Â You must be a current, dues-paying member of SIMSCal to run for club office and vote in elections.
Become a member today by signing up for an Annual Membership.
Existing members can check their membership status, renewal date, and more by logging in at SIMSCal.com and navigating to Members Area > My Account.
The officer positions available are:
President – Leads the general meetings and board meetings; represents the club publicly; sets the year’s agenda and organizes events for the club, with input from the other officers and club members.
Treasurer-Secretary – Chief financial officer; tracks club income and expenses; signs checks and pays the bills; advises club on budgetary requirements and challenges; responsible for preparing and filing club’s state & federal tax forms; as secretary, takes down meeting minutes.
Director of Communications – Reads and responds to general email inquiries; composes and sends out meeting announcements and club newsletter; maintains website and social media accounts.
Director of Instrument-Making Operations – Advises the executive board on the progress and material needs of our instrument-making classes; position is typically held by a current instrument-making class instructor.
We have an URGENT NEED for a new Treasurer. Our current Treasurer, Fred, has reached the maximum two-year term limit, as set forth in our By-Laws. Are you good with numbers, responsible, and trustworthy? Then we need you! Let us know you’re interested in helping out ([email protected]).
In addition to all that fun stuff, George is planning to do a short technical demonstration for us, and there’s always time for Show & Tell. Let us know what instrument projects you’ve been working on, show off a fun new tool, or share some helpful tips and tricks for the workshop.
Hope to see a lot of you on Zoom next Saturday! Let’s make this a great year!
