Meetings

We have scheduled meetings at least quarterly—on the first Sunday in February, May, August, and November—usually in the afternoon for a couple of hours. Since COVID-19, most meeting have been hybrid—that is, Zooming a live meeting. Ditto Shop Tours with top-notch builders.

Our meeting format is simple: Old Business, New Business, of course, then a Presentation or Demonstration—sometimes a celebrity luthier Shop Tour via Zoom, then “Show & Tell.” Show & Tell is where members show completed instruments, which are usually passed around and frequently played. Members also share progress on new projects. Some solicit advice from more experienced makers on build problems, etc. Sometimes “it takes a village” to finish a guitar.

Socializing, before and after a meeting, is fundamental to the club. It's not just sharing insights and information; it's about connecting with other builders.

Meeting Location:  Varies from meeting to meeting. Some meetings are virtual-only on Zoom, while others are in-person or hybrid meetings held at workshops or colleges in southern California.

For Up-to-Date Information: Signing up for our email newsletter (sign-up form at bottom of page) is the best way to stay informed about upcoming meetings. We send out a meeting announcement about a month in advance, and a reminder a few days before the meeting takes place.
